The Little Rock Nine didn't face Central High School alone. Daisy Bates, president of the Arkansas NAACP, organized their campaign and opened her home as headquarters. Parents prepared their children for what they would face. The Black community of Little Rock pooled resources for protection and support. Allies across the country sent messages of encouragement.
